I set myself a goal of 2500 words day for the month - not happening

21st -2732

22nd - 3418

I have 27164 for the month.

If i hit 2500 the next 9 days I will have added 22.5k for a total of 49664.

So... my new goal is to make it a nano month (50k)

The project at the moment is about 78k and i think 150-160k will finish it. So if I hit 50k for the month I will be at about 100k words on the project,

With 28 days in FEB I could hit 70k more and finish it.

So we'll see.

In that time I also have to :

edit 7 short stories for a collection (about 70k total)
Do cover design and art for said collection
publish said collection
edit a book for someone else
beta read a book
sleep occasionally
shower here and there...
go to work (see how far down the priority list this is????)
Shave.... not happening

No problem!!!

January 21: I wrote 400 words today, but had a crap ton of kid drama that cramped my style.

January 22: I wrote 598 words, but had over 8 hours of live on air podcasting that drained me.

January 23: I 100 words, but this was another day of 5 hours of on air podcasting for my other paying job.

Overall: I broke 90,000 words, but now it looks like a 200K word story. Big oof.

January 24: I wrote 1,802 words and found an answer to one of my questions for technology. Got sucked into a deep research black hole on the physics of trebuchets. It was fun, but I used four buzz words out of that in two chapters. Not sure if the readers will even notice the authenticity of the scene. We will see.

January 25: Today I wrote 2,000 words and am set up for a kick ass fight scene tomorrow. I am excited to write it, so that should help me get the words out!

Overall: The book is at 94,000 and it seems that the end is always just around the corner. Might end up Sanderson-esq tome. We shall see.

January 26: I wrote 2,000 words today, bringing the story up to 96,000 words total. Now I need to re-evaluate the plot pacing so I can drill down to the conclusion! :)

January 27: I wrote 712 words into the novel today, and another 750 on a side project.

January 28: I wrote 761 words today, but spent several hours organizing my books pacing. Slow and steady.

You guys are kicking ass :-)

I've hit a point in my revise of the third Joss Kyle book where I've realized I have to do a major reorganization. Sigh. So, today is that day. Upside: it should allow me to cut some words, which is good because the book is 250k words long.

23 - 1140
24 - 0
25- 0
26 - 261 (,much more but cut and reworked - wound up being a net + 261 forgot to track what I actually rewrote - ah well!)
27- 0
28 -0
29 - 1955 (and counting as of this post)

total for the month is 30520 - not going to hit 50k for feb

new goal is 40k - tough but doable

I think - though it was not planned - I, like Dan, will end up with a 200k+ book. If it approaches 250k, I may split it. We shall see.

Unfortunately lots of stupid things going on in real life standing in the way of a daily 2500 word count. Nonetheless taking the time when I can and pushing on.

This project is 81090 words.

Have to find time in Feb to edit the previous book (70k word short story collection I wrote 50k of new material for in the last few months as i worked on the current novel) and then put it up for sale.

Thanks JR and Dan for the periodic check-ins - the accountability does help! (tho the 0s above may speak otherwise some days)
